The European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) is an annual initiative that recognizes emerging fiction writers from across Europe. It is funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union – an initiative aiming at strengthening Europe’s cultural and creative sectors. During a cycle of three years, the award includes 41 countries participating in the Creative Europe program. The EUPL was launched in 2009, and since then it has recognized 135 writers, through 12 editions.
