Marten W. de Vries, emeritus Professor of Social Psychiatry at Maastricht University and anthropologist, has carried out field research into child development as well as the experience of mental illness under diverse socio-cultural and traumatic circumstances ranging from western and African societies to street communities. Following on international academic, medical and NGO leadership positions, he has focused on responding to the global mental a health challenge by producing mixed-media.
