He has received numerous prestigious awards for his books, including the Literary Foundation Prize for his collection of stories entitled Malý román (A Short Novel, 1994) and the Bibiana Prize for the best and Most Beautiful Children’s Book of the year for his Rozprávky z čiernej Afriky (Folk Stories from Black Africa, 2004). His book Liečiteľ (Healer, 2006) won him the prestigious literary award Anasoft Litera in 2007.
