Lydia Cacho


Mexican journalist, social activist and writer. She is a specialist in research on gender violence, health, childhood, and organized crime. She is a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and co-founder of the Mexican, Central American and Caribbean Journalists’ Network. She founded the Center of Attention for women and children who are victims of violence CIAM Cancún A.C. Her brave works of investigative journalism have made her the most awarded journalist in Mexico, having won 55 international awards. Newsweek & The Daily Beast consider her One of the 100 Women who Move the World. She is the author of books such as Infamy: How One Woman Brought an International Sex Trafficking Ring to Justice. Her most recent book is The day they invaded my planet: a children's book on the invasion of the Ukraine.
