Fiona Greenland is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Virginia. Her current research project focuses on Russia’s attempts to destroy the Ukrainian nation, and on the work of Ukrainian authors, translators, editors, and publishers who strive to preserve and develop Ukrainian literature. Her book, tentatively titled To Kill a Nation: Russia's War and Ukraine's Cultural Survival, is based on two years of interviews and ethnographic fieldwork in Ukraine. As a certified open-source researcher (OSINT), she led a team investigating crimes against culture within the Conflict Observatory Ukraine project in 2023–2024.
