Writer, screenwriter, editor, teacher. The author of several dozen books for both adult audiences and children and teenagers. Works were translated into English, Estonian, Chinese, Lithuanian, German, Polish, French. The books "Dushnytsia" and "Dragon Bone Gunpowder" were included in the list of literature recommended by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine for reading at school. Since 2004, V. Areniev has been actively attending international fiction literary festivals, promoting Ukrainian fiction abroad and foreign (primarily Polish) fiction in Ukraine. Together with Olena Hlushchenko, he is the author of the idea and one of the participants of the video project "Ukraine reads Lem" (2016, implemented by the Literra Creative Association with the support of the Polish Institute in Kyiv). Since the spring of 2022, V. Areniev records a weekly author's podcast for Polish Radio for Ukraine. He worked and works as a consultant/compiler of foreign fiction series at "Green Dog" ("Foreign Legion" series), "Zhupansky Publishing House" ("Amalgam" series), "ASSA" and others. Compiled and wrote comments to the first collection of Stanislav Lem's works in Ukrainian. He compiled a number of anthology collections, in particular, the first retrospective anthology of the Ukrainian fantasy story "The Language of Babylon" (published in Polish in 2022, an expanded edition in Ukrainian is planned for publication in 2023)
