No one is obliged to forgive

Wojciech Tochman will be presenting his book Today We’ll Draw Death, which has just been released in Ukrainian translation by Andrii Bondar and published by Choven, in Lviv.

⠀⠀

What is the book about?

Rwanda, April 6, 1994. In the post-colonial African country where two nations with a complicated history coexist — the Tutsis and Hutus — the head of state dies in an airplane crash. This marked the beginning of a genocide in which neighbors killed neighbors. Millions of people perished.

⠀⠀

Today, the killers still live alongside the families of their victims.

⠀⠀

Wojciech Tochman returned to Rwanda many times to understand how, after what happened there, it is even possible to coexist. He spoke with survivors, with the perpetrators, and with witnesses.

⠀⠀

The event will be moderated by Olena Sheremet. She is a translator of Polish literary reportage into Ukrainian, including books by Wojciech Jagielski, Mirosław Wlekły, Paweł Smoleński, and Małgorzata Rejmer.

⠀⠀

At the event, you will have the opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed by the author.
