"Native Crimea": a new closeness in the conditions of temporary occupation
Since the Russian occupation of Crimea in 2014, the peninsula has become inaccessible to thousands of people. In the series "Native Crimea", created by Ukraїner together with the Ukrainian Institute, the heroes use virtual reality to observe their landmarks in the Crimea, share their thoughts and stories about their native peninsula.
Among them are directors Akhtem Seitablaev and Oleg Sentsov, singer Jamala, and one of the leaders of the Crimean Tatar national movement, Mustafa Dzhemilev.
The project team found their hometowns in the Crimea and showed them in VR format, so that everyone could move to the corners with the most pleasant memories of the Crimea.
The Native Crimea project reminds of the fate of people after the occupation, human rights violations, and persecution in Crimea.
