The Struggle Against Evil in Literature

The Struggle Against Evil in Literature

Tandem Reading: Zoran Žmirić (Croatia) and Bohdan Kolomiychuk (Ukraine)

What do the author of historical-adventure and historical-crime novels and the author of novels about war and returning from it have in common? Both uniquely depict the uncompromising struggle between good and evil. Both have taken up arms to fight evil while defending their homeland.

While Bohdan Kolomiychuk’s novels are well known to Ukrainian readers, the Ukrainian translation of Zoran Žmirić’s Blockbuster (transl. V. Krynytskyi) has a somewhat narrower readership, yet for some it has been a life-defining work. This and more, above all the authors’ creative approaches, will be discussed at this tandem reading.

Participants: Zoran Žmirić (Croatia), Bohdan Kolomiychuk (Ukraine)
