The Collapse of the USSR and Ukraine’s Nuclear Disarmament
For her book A Bomb as an Inheritance, researcher Maryana Budzherin of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School received the William Colby Award for military history, becoming its first female laureate.
Together with Yevhen Hlibovytsky, director of the Frontier Institute, the author will explore whether Ukraine truly had a choice it did not take, what was promised in exchange for disarmament, whether Ukraine could have retained nuclear status, and if so, would Russia have dared to invade?
